Who 'a calling? When I call the no that shows up on my caller ID,  it goes to a voice message saying I dialed the no incorrectly & to try again .

See following Winnipeg Police Service Media Release:Telephone Advertising ScamThe Winnipeg Police Service continues to receive complaints regarding the solicitation of advertising monies.In each incident the complainant reports that they have received a call from an unknown male.  This male states that he is selling advertising space in the ?Winnipeg Police Service Magazine?, ?Winnipeg Police Service Association News? or some similar non-existent publication.It appears that the suspect(s)?s attempts have been unsuccessful to date.Neither the Winnipeg Police Service nor the Winnipeg Police Association solicits funds over the phone.Anyone receiving a call of this nature should report the matter to the police non-emergency-line at (204) 986-6222.  If you have been contacted and provided information to the caller, you should contact police as well as your credit card company.The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind the public to be vigilant when receiving telephone calls from persons soliciting donations.  If you are unsure of the legitimacy of the caller, get a call-back number and confirm directly with the agency prior to providing any personal or credit card information.  If you are unable to confirm the legitimacy of the caller, decline the request.People wishing to learn more about combating fraud are encouraged to visit the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre website. Just got a call from this number.  It's a new number for them but the same scamthe caller was Christy - a telemarketers scamming ads for Canadian Missing Kids News Magazine.  Connected to Cedar Publishing in Edmonton Alberta. - Do NOT take the call any further than finding out that it is CMK or Canadian Missing Kids News Magazine.Hang up immediately.  If you do not.....out of politeness or curiosity........ -They will claim you have advertised with them for x # of years.....they draw from old ads you may have run with another biz. NEVER agree to 'think about it' or 'send more info'  ALL they need is you to say 'yes' and they've got you.-The calls are recorded and they get you recorded saying 'yes' to anything.....that's their 'binding contract'From there...you will receive a black & white newsprint copy of a magazine that no one has ever seen or heard of with a supposedly authorized ad (usually not very accurate)  that you placed along with an invoice requesting payment of approx. $250 for the ad. Just run an online search 'canadian missing kids news magazine' and check the BBB complaint list Cedar Publishing.They have newer looking flashy websites now....don't be fooled.I have never met or talked to anyone who has ever seen or heard of this publication/magazine except those who have been subjected to their marketing tactics & BBB when we called.  The history with BBB is long.  CTV did a story on it too.
